Delivering the Waipapa Building at Christchurch Hospital
CPB Contractors worked with New Zealand’s Ministry of Health to construct the Waipapa building at the Christchurch Hospital.
The Waipapa building (formerly known as the Acute Services Building) is the largest hospital project ever delivered in New Zealand and has been constructed to stringent seismic requirements. Delivering new and upgraded health infrastructure is a core capability for us and we are committed to working with our clients to deliver outstanding healthcare solutions.
The Waipapa building includes:
- A new emergency department and operating theatres;
- 413 inpatient beds
- An expanded intensive care unit;
- Children’s facilities;
- A state-of-the-art radiology department; and
- A rooftop helipad.
The new Child Health spaces feature a beautiful new patient playground, the Matatiki Hub, and an Activity Room. Parents and carers will also appreciate having additional beds in each room.
Paul Corbett, CPB Contractors New Zealand General Manager, said that delivering new and upgraded health infrastructure is a core capability for CPB Contractors.
"Everyone involved in the delivery of this project is very proud of the outcome. Waipapa is an outstanding health facility that will be valued and appreciated by the community for many years to come. Congratulations and thanks to everyone who has been involved in this project.”
The project was part of the New Zealand Ministry of Health’s redevelopment of Christchurch and Burwood Hospitals.
