Coinciding with National Road Safety Week, Roads Australia, in collaboration with CPB Contractors and the broader sector, has released Australia’s first Road Worker Safety Industry Guideline, further accelerating actions to save more lives.
The guideline is a response to a number of alarming statistics, including that vehicle collisions cause 41% of Australia’s worker fatalities.
Formally launched at the Roads Australia Transforming Transport Summit in Melbourne last week, the guideline seeks to safeguard the industry’s frontline workers who build, operate, and maintain roads and ensure safer roads for all drivers.
Roads Australia CEO Ehssan Veiszadeh said: "The industry has seen an unacceptable spike in the number of incidents, severe injuries and fatalities impacting road workers, indicating the urgency to enhance the safety of road workers together with the public moving throughout”.
Providing a safe and healthy workplace is a core value for CPB Contractors and is underpinned by CIMIC Group's One HSE Culture framework. This company-wide approach makes safety simple to understand for people, partners, and suppliers and more relevant to the day-to-day operations across CPB Contractors sites.
