Australia’s leading contractor, CPB Contractors is focused on developing innovative programs that attract new entrants to our industry to build capacity, capability and diversity in construction.
The newly built $80 million Institute of Applied Technology - Construction (IAT-C) facility in Kingswood Western Sydney, was officially opened and unveiled today.
Rob Monaci CPB Contractors General Manager NSW & ACT joined Steve Whan, NSW Minister for Skills, TAFE and Tertiary Education, at the ribbon cutting event, also attended by foundation partner representatives from TAFE NSW and Western Sydney University.
This unique partnership brings together leading educators and best-of-industry expertise to co-create flexible, quick-to-market micro courses that allow people to up-skill and re-skill, building their careers.
Speaking at the event this morning, Rob explained what sets this model apart for students and industry, “What makes this partnership so unique is that the construction expertise that goes into these courses isn’t from CPB Contractors alone, but from construction businesses and suppliers of every size and from every sector. It’s a model that all of the industry can influence, helping build relevant skills for the jobs that need to be filled today, and tomorrow.”
“Together, we’ll fast-track the industry's ability to build capacity and capability, which is essential as the construction pipeline evolves and we prepare more Renewables projects”, said Rob.
Minister for Skills, TAFE and Tertiary Education Steve Whan said:
"The Institute is doing an amazing job by delivering online Micro skill and Micro credential programs in project management, contract administration, building information modelling, and digital skills in construction."
“I’m so pleased to see that learners across Australia have already enrolled in more than 10,000 micro-skills or micro-credentials delivered by The Institute of Applied Technology Construction."
“The Institute will help upskill the next generation of construction workers, who will be able to continue to build the much-needed homes this state needs.”
The new campus features state-of-the-art facilities, including a drone-room, digital engineering labs, a construction sandpit and large workshop spaces to accommodate the construction of full-scale buildings that can be used in carpentry, plumbing, and electrotechnology training.
Learners across Australia have already enrolled in more than 10,000 online micro-skills or micro-credentials and face-to-face classroom learning that covers topics such as:
