CPB Contractors’ Daniel Mann, a Senior Project Engineer working on METRONET's Yanchep Rail Extension as part of the NEWest Alliance, has been named Engineer of the Year at the 2024 Civil Construction Federation’s (CCF) Industry and Training Awards. This award recognises Daniel's exceptional leadership, innovative problem-solving and commitment to project success.
Innovation drives efficient piling approach
While managing the cropping of 3,000 piles across the METRONET alignment, Daniel pursued opportunities to optimise processes and expedite works. Leveraging CPB Contractors’ in-house capabilities and resources, he streamlined the piling approach through innovative design optimisations, including capping beams and customised formwork. This not only saved valuable time but also ensured high-quality outcomes.
Leveraging data tools to enhance team performance
Leading a team of up to 600 people on site each day, Daniel’s proactive approach to monitoring team performance saw him combine Power BI systems with manual monitoring to provide detailed production and productivity reports to project leaders in real time.
CPB Contractors is delivering two METRONET projects for the State Government - the Yanchep Rail Extension and the Thornlie-Cockburn Link. The Yanchep Rail Extension extends the Joondalup line north from Butler to Yanchep and involves the construction of three new stations to support the growing population.
