In 2018, Micaela Taljaard joined CPB Contractors as a Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) Behavioural & Systems Analyst across Western Australia (WA), South Australia (SA), and the Northern Territory (NT). Micaela spearheaded the implementation of a unique employee survey approach, which has seen CPB Contractors roll out a custom-built SHE initiative – the Better Balance for Wellbeing Program – across its WA, SA, and NT operations.
“Our CPB Contractors team custom-built this wellbeing program to align with the themes identified in our surveys, and it's being rolled out innovatively,” says Micaela.
Micaela and her team delivered accessibility toolkits to engage employees with the program and ensure the workforce had the support needed to proactively manage their overall well-being.
The CPB Contractors Better Balance for Wellbeing program includes a mobile app that works when users are offline – which is particularly important for FIFO and remote workforces, says Micaela.
“The app gives users access to an array of mindfulness tools and guided sessions that promote practical mindfulness,” Micaela added.
To promote the launch of the program, employees participated in a '10 Days to a Happier and Healthier You' challenge. The challenge was designed to encourage people to download and use the mobile meditation and mindfulness app, Micaela explained.
