Motorists are using the Port Wakefield Overpass four months ahead of schedule, benefiting from CPB Contractors’ commitment to disciplined delivery on the Port Wakefield to Port Augusta Alliance (PW2PA).
Having reached the milestone early, the trek to the Yorke Peninsula, and beyond, is now safer for the community.
The newly constructed overpass was opened to traffic on Wednesday, 22 December 2021 just in time for the holiday season.
Motorists will now be able to use the overpass to access:
- Port Wakefield when travelling from the Yorke Peninsula;
- the Copper Coast Highway when travelling from Port Wakefield; and
- the Copper Coast Highway when travelling from north of the new overpass.
Motorists travelling northbound from Port Wakefield will continue to use the current left turn at the existing Copper Coast Highway and Augusta Highway junction to access the Copper Coast Highway while the existing slip lane is being refurbished.
The PW2PA Alliance consists of CPB Contractors, Aurecon and GHD, in alliance with the South Australian Department for Infrastructure and Transport.
